I have tried many things online since my first website blackmanwithagun.com debuted in 1999. I learned most by trial and error. My first mistake was when I lost the domain blackmanwithagun.com to the web designer that exceeded all expectations. I got the “.net” URL for a couple of years afterwards. How many of you have lost a domain? I have lost several. My first podcast name was The Urban Shooter. After I quit podcasting for a few weeks I lost it to a porn company in eastern Europe. Branding is still important but many of us take it for granted.
I trademarked Black Man With A Gun a few years ago in an bold attempt to hold on to something still in the process of “becoming.” Today, I want the infamous moniker to be a patriotic, community building, phrase that identifies an American patriot, free and strong. I want the blog to be more than just me. It is a movement of free thinking people, unencumbered by race, and political correctness.
I decided to change the Blanchard Media Group’s blog to kennblanchard.com. I am tired of pretending that this blog which shares that I have a three active podcasts and interest in a lot of things is more than just that. This isn’t a network. The only podcast with international reach that can be and is monetized is the Black Man With A Gun Show.
I had some great successes with the Blanchard Outdoors Show, and Motorcycle Radio on internet radio and YouTube but couldn’t sustain it.
I am going to stick to what I know. I have been a gun rights activist since 1991. Talking about guns and the right to keep and bear arms has educated me more than you can believe. I’ve spoken in churches, halls, and recreational centers where there wasn’t a media presence, just hurting and confused people wanting to make sense of the loss of life that happens when people don’t realize they are free or when monsters act.
As an speaker, I have seen great orators and not-so-great ones. Over the years I have seen many bloggers and podcasters rise and fall. I have seen some try to make a living out of rhetoric, sound bytes, and being “snarky” without realizing that the goal for an activist is to change the hearts and minds of fellow Americans so that all of us can enjoy the freedoms America is capable of. Some have lost focus.
I am trying to regain mine by making Black Man With A Gun blog and podcast stronger and this blog the recipient of everything else I do. Thanks for following me.
I decided after the 2016 Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT SHOW) to focus on growing that. I just came back from trying to persuade the gun industry to invest in a new group. It was a bust. I am ok with it though because I will never stop. I just changed both sites. It’s all a part of my plan.
With the Black Man With A Gun site, and podcast, I am fighting for the rights of all Americans. It’s not pretty. It’s not easy. People are challenging but we are also the same believe it or not. We all want the same things. You have to find what motivates them to understand you. You have to find out what their fears and oppositions are. And you can’t do it in a day. If you understand this you will see through the people that get spun up, manipulate us to do the impossible, or ask for money that never is enough.
Focus is a small word but it really means something. Concentrated energy can cut steel, break rock and overcome obstacles. If you visit blackmanwithagun.com and the new KennBlanchard.com you see what I am trying to do now. Everything else will be here and I hope you like it too.
