Armed with my iphone and a tripod I got up before the rainstorm and recorded a video introducing a new channel I just created. Although I have been podcasting since 2007, I am still nervous about videoing. I live in a great place near ponds and not to far from the Chesapeake Bay in one direction and only a few minutes from the Nations Capital, where all the confusion happens. I am going to use all of those backdrops to post (hopefully) weekly videos as a voice of reason. Please subscribe to my new YouTube channel.
Some of the transcription.
I have a number of hats that I wear. I am a Father, a Black Man, A Pastor, and a Gun Owner.
I have complex feelings about the current events unfolding this week, but I choose today to focus on healing. I want to see opportunity for better days, instead of the darkness of the past events. I pray for the healing of the families who have lost loved ones. I pray for all of those who have sacrificed for America. I have enjoyed my freedom. I want to lead others to their freedom, and in honor of those who have sacrificed.
I choose today to lead. To lead a movement of unity, peace, brotherhood.
I am starting with this channel.
As a Black man, I feel a deep sadness at the continuing struggle for liberty that I see in our country. I am saddened by the loss of all innocent life. I also remain hopeful that as a country united we can still overcome racial tensions and live together in brotherhood. I want to walk out solutions for a United Country.
As a Father I feel deep regret at the confusion and pain I see that paralyzes young black and white Americans. I can’t help but be motivated to add my understanding to the national discussion on Race. I want to help people see a better day. I am ready for this difficult job.
As a Pastor, I know that we need a spiritual awakening in America. I am hopeful that the love we read about in the Bible, the love that unites us is stronger than the hate that is sown by fearful men and women. I pray for the chance to point people toward peace.
As an American, I feel passionate about the concepts of liberty and freedom, and I pray today for my fellow citizens. For the Police and their families, for the lost generation of citizens who have forgotten what a good country America is. I want a chance to prove to them that there is a better day ahead.
As a gun owner, and a man known internationally as the Black Man With A Gun, I am thankful for the rights that I have to own a tool I can use to defend myself and my loved ones. I understand that the 2nd amendment is a gift given to me, as a free man. I hope to use that freedom to help defend the rights of other people as well. The 2nd amendment is not about hunting, but it is about the security that I enjoy as a free American. I embrace the responsibilities of freedom.
Peace is not about never having conflict. Peace is about understanding how to manage the conflicts that arise. I want to focus now on the opportunities these tragic events have uncovered to talk about healing.
Together we can do great things.
New movement started. Website coming. It’s a nonprofit and is being set up. Stay tuned.
This is that thing I said was percolating. This is that thing that gets me excited in the morning. It’s called Americans for Liberty and Free Enterprise. This is what I wanted to start, so that I would have a platform to bring healing into our hurting communities. Here, I’ll be talking about my love of America. On this channel and around the country, I want to educate people that there is a new message of hope for them, with traditional ties to the values that matter to them most. Join me.Rev.
