These thoughts probably fit more under my new blog at Http://mobileministry.us where I have created a new site offering my services as a pastor a la cart but this thing was in my head so I had to share it with you. Nobody really even knows about MM yet. I have recently heard the moans of several people looking for love in all the wrong places. Listening to really nice people suffering because they can’t find a mate.
One of the most memorable scenes for me from the film “Full Metal Jacket” is from the Vietnamese prostitute that is trying to look sexy to the American soldiers and says “me love you long time.”
Everybody wants to be in love for a long time but seldom does it happen. You ever wonder why not?
Life and love is easy. We make it complicated. A lasting love is sacrificial. This is where the problems are. Today we are so B.U.S.Y. (Burdened Under Satans’ Yoke) We are too busy in fact, fulfilling our dreams, bucket lists we can’t fill, and trying to temporarily satisfy ourselves in some way or another.
We can’t find love because when it came around the first time we traded it for something else. There was always something else going on that we valued more. Sometimes we get a second or third chance with others and sometimes you won’t. It is often pride or “other,” that gets in the way. Other is anything you place between you and your mate that isn’t God. Once you’ve lost that loving feeling, it’s whoa, whoa gone gone, gone.
And for the single person looking for love, its hard to find because it isn’t in your house, apartment or room. You have to meet that special person on neutral territory. There are out there if its God’s will and you are ready to meet them.
But you don’t hear me.
It has to be more than I’m selfish, prideful and I don’t move in the right circles, right? It’s simple. When you are fishing and there is nothing biting where we are; we change our location. If you are in a relationship, if you want it to last you have treat it like a living thing and feed, water and care for it. Love is…
1 Corinthians 13 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
The Excellence of Love
13 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body [a]to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 [b]bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of [c]prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I [d]became a man, I did away with childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror [e]dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the [f]greatest of these is love.
And if you want a lasting long time love you have to work it. You have to put more energy into it than that prostitute did in the video clip above to draw attention to her. Are you ready to dedicate, practice and sacrifice to make it “long time”? If you want more details specific to your situation, email or call me. http://mobibleministry.us
