Black Man With A Gun
In 2000, while working as the janitor of a metropolitan church, I wrote this book as a primer for anyone looking to learn about the controversial subject of gun ownership. It’s from the perspective of a Christian law enforcement officer and firearms instructor living in the city. I got too creative and the cover scared my intended readers. The US flag is wrongly but artistically displayed in distress. It was written in my normal conversational tone, sharing what I had said a hundred times in small groups and churches. Some are things that got me into trouble later at that church.
My goal was to inform and give a different point of view. It was rejected by African American bookstores as being “not the kind of book they would want to carry,” even though my book preached responsibility, lawful use, safety and citizenship.
