There are few pro-rights groups doing as much for the people without fanfare as the Illinois State Rifle Association. They don’t get much applause but I have seen and have been a part of some guerrilla efforts at changing the racist gun laws in Chicago.
It’s tougher when the people you are trying to help don’t appreciate or know you are doing it for them. It’s hard when it is easier to twist their efforts against them than celebrate it.
My state is far from perfect and conveniently makes it seem like they are compliant with the wishes of the law abiding people but are still prohibitive when it comes to armed self defense. Illinois is ok as long as you don’t live in the city of Chicago. Then they treat the residents like they are still on a plantation.
Every Sunday, there is a pro-rights commercial playing on Chicago92, a Hip Hop station, in hopes that it garners the interest and plants the seed of truth in the minds of the listeners. I haven’t had any feedback yet about it but its happening. The ISRA has been the most ardent supporter of this effort and nobody knew it.
Press on my brothers! I have your back. The ISRA.org rocks! http://isra.org
