Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is a sensitive issue that may lead to serious repercussions if continued.

It can be defined as an aggression or physical abuse aimed at one’s spouse or domestic partner; typically violence and brutality by men against women.

A good proportion of women globally, are affected by a number which doesn’t pay heed to age, race, religion, ethnicity, academic background or economic position.

Women are often treated as a commodity. Social isolation, lack of comfort to the native language and deprivation of financial security is what is added to the dilemma and often aggravates their situation.

Let’s take a look at some of signs of Domestic violence which would suggest that it is prevalent in an arrangement.

  1. Controlling- People, generally men who abuse are often seen as bullying or commanding.

  2. Restricting- Abusers imposing restrictions on victim’s day to day activities.

  3. Envy and possessiveness – Excessive passion and possessiveness is seen owards their belongings, family members and pets.

  4. Unstable and Hot-tempered – People involved in domestic violence are usually very short tempered. They often like to make a mountain out of a molehill.

  5. Destruction of self worth – Every action of abusers is aimed at depletion and destroying victim’s self esteem and confidence.

  6.             Horror and Fear – Abusers would often try to instill feeling or fear and dismay out of                              victim’s mind.
